The team at Hengrove Athletic have kicked off their fundraising activities and are now aiming to sign up its supporters to easyfundraising.org.uk to help boost their fundraising for free.

“Hengrove Athletic have been an integral part of this area for nearly seventy years” said club secretary Martin McConachie. "We intend to continue our good work locally and to that end, we have joined forces with easyfundraising to not only help our loyal supporters, but also raise much needed funds for the club. What is wonderful about easyfundraising is that it is absolutely free to us and our supporters and a very quick and simple way to raise funds for charities. Everyone should sign up to this and get on board - the pennies donated from each online purchase soon turn into pounds.”

Funds are raised in a very simple way. Supporters register to help Hengrove Athletic and whenever they shop through the site with any of the 3,200 retailers listed on easyfundraising.org.uk, the retailer gives a small percentage of what’s been spent back to Hengrove AFC to say thank you for shopping with them. Many high street names are now involved including Amazon, John Lewis, eBay and Tesco giving causes and supporters a great opportunity to raise funds.

Hengrove Athletic will now be one of thousands of causes across the UK which has benefitted from more than £19 million in donations raised through easyfundraising, with more than 1.3 million supporters signed up to the site.

The cash has been raised since the Staffordshire based company launched in 2005. It was set up by Ian Woodroffe, a former telecoms account manager, who, while recovering from cancer, wanted to use the boom in internet shopping to help cash strapped charities generate much needed funds.

“I am delighted Hengrove Athletic has signed up to easyfundraising. We wish them the best of luck with their fundraising” he said.

There are over 3,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's – and it doesn't cost you a penny extra!
