Hengrove Athletic are delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie Hillman as first team manager.

Jamie rejoins the Grove as the club’s most successful manager ever with three promotions and a Les Phillips Cup victory during his two previous spells. He succeeds John Durbin who left the club last month after nearly two years in charge.

Jamie’s first spell at Hengrove began in season 2005/06 as joint manager of the side that achieved promotion to the Western League as champions of the Somerset County League. After six successive top half finishes, he led the club to their first promotion from the Toolstation Western League Division One in 2012/13 as they finished narrow runners-up to winners Sherborne Town.

After leaving the club to join Hallen, he returned for a second time and led the Grove to a memorable Les Phillips Cup triumph in 2015/16, beating Premier Division Willand Rovers 2-1 in the Final. The side also beat higher level opposition in Cadbury Heath and Melksham Town away from home in the competition.

More success followed the following season (2016/17) as Hengrove clinched a second promotion in five seasons, again as runners-up, this time to Wellington. As in their previous promotion, the club won more games than any other side in the division including a spectacular run of twelve successive victories at the start of 2017.

Jamie left that summer having achieved his goal and returns for a third time with the club likely to start next season back in the First Division. He comes with a win ratio of 50.2% and having completed eleven seasons in charge at the Park.

From all of us at Paprika Park, welcome back Jamie and the very best wishes for a happy and successful return.
