It has been confirmed by the FA that Hengrove Athletic will play in Division One of the Toolstation Western League in season 2019/20.

The Grove finished second bottom of the Premier Division last season and have been relegated along with Shortwood United, who have joined the Hellenic League. That will mean a complete set of new opponents for Jamie Hillman's side next season, but with a couple of notable absentees also.

The allocations document has been released by the FA last night and made available this morning. Hengrove will also play a new club in Lebeq United, promoted from the Gloucestershire County League. Chippenham Park have withdrawn from the League to concentrate on academy football and Chard Town's ground grading issues has seen them provisonally demoted to the Somerset County League, although all decisions are subject to appeal.

The full list is on the attached image. As far as the Premier Division of the League is concerned, there are four "new" teams lining up next season. Street took a voluntary demotion from the Southern League, Keynsham as title winners of Division One take their place while there's a warm welcome to South West Peninsula League sides Exmouth Town and Tavistock Town. Chipping Sodbury have been laterally moved to the Hellenic Premier League.

Finally for those of a statistical bent, Hengrove's travelling this season has been reduced by more than 40% in the lower division. After enduring five 100+ mile round trips last season, this season's longest trip is to Bishop's Lydeard, a mere 92-mile jaunt. It is yet to be confirmed which side will be Grove's Boxing Day / Good Friday opposition but it is likely to be either Bristol Telephones at this stage. Full details of our away trips are below...
