. . . . Youth secure second league win

A beautiful sunny morning welcomed the 'Youth' at Bitton today where we looked to secure a result in our third game of the current league campaign after a disappointing result last week.

The pitch in excellent condition and the boys in buoyant mood we began our pre-match warm-up.

Last week we felt that we needed to be better organised and more responsibility was needed by everyone especially when others were out of position.

From the very start and the very first corner this was all very apparent and we felt that we had finally got our point across.

The 'Youth' certainly took the game to Bitton and if not for some excellent goalkeeping Hengrove could of raced into a healthy lead.

Extensive pressure eventually told and the 'Youth' took the lead with a well struck goal before the same player scored again after some excellent combination play down the flanks.

Goals three and four came just before half-time after sent the 'Youth' into a comfortable lead at the break.

We immediately made changes to liven things up again and give Bittons defence something else to think about and from the resounding kick-off the boys did that, getting in behind them and delivering good crosses into the penalty area.

Bitton continued to try and play out from the back but the quick pressure applied by the 'Youth' keep them pinned back forcing mistakes which the boys capitalised on, eventually bringing about our fifth goal and a hat-trick for one of our forwards.

As is sometimes the case, pressing that high up the pitch you always risk possesion and a counter attack, an excellent Bitton ball saw their lone striker run clear and slot the ball past our keeper.

The boys continued to stick to the original game plan and their rewards soon came with the sixth and final goal of the game.

Full credit to Bitton, they played the right way and never gave up and we wish them luck for the rest of the season.

A great win and an additional 3 points earned, we return to the training ground on Thursday to prepare for the visit of Bromley Heath next Sunday - another tough test against an already established 'A' division side.

For now, well done boys.
