HENGROVE HIT SIX PAST WILTING WARMS
Hengrove opened their home 2023/24 Toolstation Western League campaign with a resounding 6-1 win over Warminster Town.
The Grove went with the same starting XI that had grabbed a late point at Bitton on Saturday and took the lead on ten minutes through man-of-the-match Pete Sheppard. A second goal for Sheppard arrived on 25 minutes before Jack Jones made it three on 38 minutes. The visiting Wiltshiremen pulled a goal back but Rohan Hartrey made it 4-1 before the break.
Any half time hope in the away dressing room was quickly extinguished as Mickey Parsons made it 5-1 early in the second half before Sonny Parker, on 83 minutes, became one of the youngest first team scorers in recent years; the 16-year old coming on as a sub and netting the sixth with seven minutes remaining.
The South West Safety Man of the Match was Pete Sheppard who received his MOM award from chairman Mike Greatbanks.
Next up for the Grove is the short trip down over Stockwood Hill on Saturday to take on Keynsham Town, 3pm kickoff.
