CHEESE ROLLED OVER IN THE RAIN BY GROVE

The game kicked off in driving rain, weather that didn't relent all night and contributed to Hengrove's lowest crowd of the season. But the 42 souls present witnessed an improved performance from Jamie Hillman's side in victory albeit it was far from a classy showing.

The hosts took the lead on 17 minutes when skipper Regan Burton bundled home from close range and it was 2-0 five minutes later in spectacular style. George Green, on his home debut up front, spotted the Cheddar keeper off his line and chipped him perfectly to double Grove's advantage.

As the teams began the second half, still in pouring rain, Cheddar immediately pulled a goal back through Lewis Chappell but the two goal lead was soon restored when top scorer Jack Jones fired home his eighth of the campaign with a low left foot shot into the corner. That was how the game ended and despite it not being a classic, credit must go to both teams and the three match officials who contributed to making this a watchable game in truly dreadful weather.
