GROVE STUNG BY SWARM OF WASPS GOALS

Grove manager Jamie Hillman gave a first start to new signings Pervez Nedaie and James Horrocks with a third capture, the returning Sam Jackson, on the bench.

However an astonishing burst of four goals in nine first half minutes almost killed the game off by the break. On twenty minutes, striker Matt Garner powered a header home and two minutes later, Connor Williams found the top corner with an in inch perfect free kick to make it 2-0. It was soon three when Williams set up Gary Chapman and the fourth arrived on 29 minutes through Jamie Thompson.

There was still time for a fifth before the break when Jamie Thompson grabbed his second of the afternoon; straight after the interval though, Jack Jones pulled a goal back from the penalty spot to make it 5-1.

It took until ten minutes from the end before the rampant Wasps scored again, Jamie Thompson striking his hat trick goal but Hengrove scored late on through a superb Sonny Parker effort to at least enusre the Grove had won the second half, scant consolation for the home side.

A free fortnight ahead now for Hengrove who are next in action on 9th December at the AVB Stadium against Bradford Town.
