Six years ago today, the club reached one of the highest points of their history when they won the Les Phillips Cup at Welton Rovers.

As a First Division side, the Grove defeated heavily fancied Premier Division opponents Willand Rovers by two goals to one thanks to a James Dunn double at West Clewes. The victory sparked fantastic celebration scenes for the side & inspired them to win promotion to the higher level twelve months later.

You can listen to the full match commentary by clicking on the link below (with the winner from Dunn coming at the 75.56 mark.)

2016 Les Phillips Cup Final match commentary

The run started back in January when Jamie Hillman's side beat Chard Town 4-2 at Norton Lane. Goals from Jack Fillingham, Scott Lewis, George Saunders and Tom Batchelor set up a tie with Premier Division Cadbury Heath at Springfield. Both Fillingham and Batchelor scored again as the Grove won 2-1 and Matt Durbin grabbed the winner as Keynsham Town were despatched 1-0 in the quarter finals.

The semi final saw another trip to face Premier Division opposition in the shape of Melksham Town at the Conigre. The Wiltshire hosts were among the front runners in the race for promotion to the Southern League but Fillingham again did the trick as the spirited Grove reached their first ever Final with a 2-1 win over extra time.

And so to the final, 14th May 2016. The Grove lined up (in alphabetical order...)

Joe Cole, Luke Crewe, James Dunn, Matt Durbin, Mark Fear, Jack Fillingham, Tom Kington, Scott Lewis, Marcus Maggs, Asa White, Craig White. Subs (both used), Tom Batchelor, Billy Vaughan.

The victory was fully deserved with Dunn's winner worthy of winning any game, let alone the League's showpiece cup competition. The bulk of the team then stayed together for more success a year later when gaining promotion to the Toolstation League Premier Division.

Happy Les Phillips Cup Day everyone.
