After picking up seven points from their first three games, the Grove were oozing confidence as they hosted their Bristol neighbours from Hanham. They started well too with Mickey Parsons and Pete Sheppard going close but Toby Rennie gave the visitors the lead on 27 minutes through a header from a corner. Four minutes later & it was two when Sam Thomas headed firmly into the goal from a right wing cross. Before the break it was three when a low free kick deflected in off a Hengrove defender.
AEK Boco mae it four halfway through the second half when Luke Bryan slotted home a penalty after a foul had been awarded and although Jack Jones bundled in a goal with eight minutes remaining after Jack Cousins' shot came off the crossbar, Boco had the final word with the goal of the night. Ollie Williams, on as a sub, collected the ball wide on the left just inside the Hengrove half before then cutting inside and unleashing an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net.
Next up for Hengrove is another home game, this time against Wells City on Saturday 12th August, kick off at 3.00pm.
