The scoreline was a little harsh on the Grove who had spurned three good chances with the scores level at one apiece and they were made to pay by the clinical Wiltshiremen.
Manager Jamie Hillman gave a debut to striker James Hubbard who arrived from Wick FC yesterday. He was one of five changes to the side that had performed well in the FA Vase defeat to Radstock last weekend. Three of last week's subs bench in Giorgio Mancini, Simon Knight and Regan Burton came in along with Hubbard; Minas Constantinou, Troy Walters and Rob Mallett were all nursing injuries and Mickey Parsons & Jack Jones dropped to the bench.
There was no sign of a big victory at half time with Matt Swan's 16th minute opener all that separated the two sides. Hubbard equalised ten minutes after the break and the scores remained that way till fifteen minutes from the end. The Grove's profligacy in front of goal cost them dearly as a scrambled effort from close range made it 2-1. Sam Dodds made it three on 81 minutes before a late brace from Jamie Wallen on 87 and 90 minutes sealed an emphatic looking victory.
Next on the fixture list for Hengrove is a short trip to play early leaders Oldland Abbotonians on Wednesday, 7.45pm kickoff at Castle Road.
